We have been regulars in Bodenmais for more than 25 years. From the beginning, the "Alte Post" and then the "Marktstüberl" were our regulars. The quality of the food and the large portions at this low price are simply unbeatable. The daily changing menu offers a large selection of dishes in addition to the normal menu. For me there was always something that I liked or tried out again. Everything is freshly prepared and you can taste it. There is a suitable sauce for every dish. Regardless of whether game, poultry, lamb, beef or pork, there is an individually prepared sauce for every dish. So no no ready-made sauces! The landlord is always in the mood for jokes and sometimes makes a joke here and there. Not every guest likes that, but I think it suits this rustic restaurant. The cook also comes out of the kitchen from time to time and talks to the guests. and it's also fun for a few times. In summer, you can also sit in the beautiful beer garden, some of which is covered. However, since smokers usually sit in the beer garden, I prefer the cozy interior. I can recommend the Marktstüberl to everyone and cannot understand the few negative reviews. Whenever we go on holiday in Bodenmais, the Marktstüberl is our first choice to go out to eat.

We have been coming to Bodenmais for more than 20 years ... and we've been regulars there ever since the Marktstüberl has existed. We can only recommend it 👍! The food is delicious and the price / performance ratio can't be beat. And Michi, Marianne and the boss are great too. We look forward to it every year 👍👍👍!

Unfortunately, I cannot understand all the positive reviews. We had made extra reservations to have a nice last evening. We had to wait half an hour for our drinks, then again for the food, which even came with a 10 minute difference. I like to wait longer for the food to be of good quality, but what was served to us had nothing to do with quality. Cheese spaetzle with rather tasteless cheese (salt, pepper ?!) and an exaggerated amount of fried onions and a lumberjack steak (minute steak) with ready-made sauce (purest salty Maggie taste) and salty fried potatoes. In our opinion, the landlord and landlady were completely overwhelmed, and other guests next to us were also dissatisfied ... Since I couldn't do everything, I asked the landlord to pack me the take-away. Then he put a plastic box + aluminum foil on the table for me without comment. I was allowed to shovel in the food myself. Service? At least not here! Just our subjective opinion of that evening.

Light and shadow .. Were there in mid-August 2020. Reserved table and got it relatively quickly after a short queue. Service maximum rude deducted because we hadn't made up our minds after we had the menu for 3 minutes. Price / performance ratio for the food was ok. It was inexplicable for us that people at the door were told that reservations for 2 people would not be accepted. That's exactly what we did over the phone ...

I called specially to reserve a table, only sun terrace free, ok we'll come !! Arrived so unfriendly that it calls for a recession. "Have you reserved" no sun terrace .. "nothing free, can sit outside in front of the entrance" or bye ...... cheek! In Lower Bavaria, the people are a bit rougher, but that was the bottom line. The decision for the rest of the vacation is easy. Because you can save yourself that.

Super homely and familiar atmosphere. Service very friendly and the food is just delicious. If we lived in the Bavarian forest, we would be regulars there. It is definitely worth a visit for holidaymakers. One of the best places we have visited.

I cannot understand the many positive reviews. The food is normal home cooking. Pork schnitzel lovers will get their money's worth. Operation completely overwhelmed. Mass processing included. We were served by an older gentleman (presumably the boss?) Who ran more than planned and friendly service and liked to make unfriendly and condescending comments. Of course there was no invoice either. Everything is black, of course. Who likes it

If you are not afraid of Corona, you are in good hands here. As far as possible everything in, the main thing is that the profit is right. We were assigned a table near the entrance, at which incoming and outgoing guests, sometimes without a mask, at a distance of max. 30 cm past us. The health department was involved. I can't say anything about the food as we left the restaurant.

Wirtsstüberl located in a picturesque side street with a small but beautifully designed sun terrace. The food was superb and excellently prepared. The menu includes typical Bavarian delicacies but also national dishes. A varied day pass is included. The portions are generous, but many dishes can also be ordered "in small". 5 stars for the kitchen. The service was very nice and attentive. Again, I like to give 5 stars. Definitely a recommendation, but reservations should be made at peak times.

It is a shame that we were only there to eat on the last day of our vacation. Otherwise would love to come back. We can only recommend the economy. Everything was fine. Had the lumberjack steak and the Käsespätzle + potato pancakes. Price / performance is fair.

The landlady is a great cook and the portions are huge and the price is small. The waiter "Michi" is very friendly and funny. The market parlor can be highly recommended !!
